Solar Panel Installation

Components

In general, all Solar systems are made up of the same basic components: Racking, Panels, and Inverter. At this stage, the Solar industry has many specialized manufactures of each component depending on the specific installation requirements.

Solar Thermal

HPE uses only proven and warranted manufacturers, but understands that the system is only as good as the design. We maximize the options available by having the design flexibility to customize each HPE System, specifying the most appropriate manufacturers’ components based on the clients’ unique requirements.

The Racking System: Obviously each roof varies by material type and slope. The racking system is the basic structural element that secures the Photovoltaic Panels to the roof and is set to the angle and location to maximize the sun exposure. Typically these racks are made of stainless steel and aluminum and have a wind threshold of 100MPH.

The Panels: Each system is made up of a series of Photovoltaic Solar Panels. There are different sized panels as well as different watt production ratings available. The HPE system engineer will specify the type and number of panels appropriate for the location. These groupings are arranged in a collective Array to maximize the efficiency of the power collected. All panels are not created equal. Some are more architectural, designed to match a roof’s material. Some are more efficient in energy collection to maximize lower light conditions…Some panels prefer the cold, others, more heat tolerant…

HPE specifies the panel type and manufacturer for each system based on numerous factors: Space Available, Aesthetics, Site Temperature, Light Conditions, and Cost versus the Energy Output to name a few. All of the panels we specify are from industry leading companies with warrantees to match. The Sun’s power is collected in Direct Current or DC Power and is run encased in typically hidden conduit from the Array to the Inverter.

The Inverter: The inverter is the critical piece of equipment that converts the DC sun power to usable Alternating Current (AC) Power to be fed into the electrical meter. Effects of the Clean Energy can be noted immediately as the usage meter will slow dramatically, or often start spinning backwards. You are now on Clean Power. Which is good.
